Finderlock
TL;DR
A simple macOS utility that adds a biometric lock to specific files using Touch ID and standard encryption.
Who is this actually for?
Privacy-conscious Mac users who share their machine with family or keep sensitive client docs in unencrypted folders.
The Good
- Uses native Touch ID, so no typing long passwords every five minutes.
- AES-256 encryption means the security isn't just a UI trick.
The Catch (Potential Downsides)
It is basically a wrapper for stuff you can technically do with Disk Utility, just faster. Also, third-party Finder extensions are notorious for breaking whenever macOS gets a major update.
