Enterprise Operations
Kioxia & Dell 10PB 2RU Server
TL;DR
Dell and Kioxia managed to shove 10 petabytes of flash storage into a tiny 2U chassis because our collective AI data hunger is getting out of hand.
Who is this actually for?
Hyperscalers and enterprise AI labs that are tired of paying for more data center floor space and need to consolidate massive training sets.
The Good
- The density is ridiculous; you can save massive amounts on rack rent and cooling costs.
- Fewer physical nodes means less cabling mess and simplified hardware management at the top-of-rack level.
The Catch (Potential Downsides)
The blast radius is enormous; losing one 2U node means 10PB goes offline instantly. You also better have a massive budget because this much flash density carries a heavy premium.
